042: The Addiction of Exercise With Maksim Tsvetovat
Show notes
I wasn't expecting this episode to go this route, but it was totally worth it!
Meet Dr. Maks!
Immigrated from Russia at the age of 16 and quickly learned the culture shock of moving to America.
Throughout his life, he had to quickly learn how to fend for himself, from living with 14 people in a small house to trying to make ends meet. Things didn't come to easy for him.
He made some friends, went to school and got told no a bunch of times, but none of that stopped him. After meeting his co-founder, who just had surgery for cancer, they went on to see how exercise and lifestyle can help those recover through a complete care network.
This network was used to track what cancer patients did and how their physicians can prescribe better care.
With this newly developed app, they broadened their scope by stepping into ataraxia and opioid addiction.
They wanted to see if they can help those that have lost it all, achieve better lives through fitness.
I really dived into the opioid addiction section to see if there is anything we can learn about helping people seek better recovery. We've all heard stories of an addict becoming a runner, but does it hold validity in a study...well we shall soon know!
